Omega V - Nurgle infection detected... |
Anyways, the site is slowly coming back to life. The premise? As before, it will focus on developing and playing a small scale 40k skirmish game; lending itself to imaginative conversions and breath holding photo-stories.
The closest thing I've seen to a decent skirmish game would fall some where between Space Hulk, Necromunda and Mordheim. That's where this beautiful fan made game called 'Inquisidmunda' saves us a ridiculous amount of time. The game takes you out of the underhive and into the 40k galaxy. You take control of a small squad of specialists (5-15) with various abilities and combat skills and pit them against your opponent's. Inquisitors, Crimlords, Rogue Traders, Xenos Psykers... the warband make ups don't include too many "power units" but you do have the ability to take a space marine here and there and have the balance remain intact. If you're familiar with the Dark Heresy RPG series then you'll pretty much be right at home with the game scale/atmosphere.
With that said, this game adaptation has been on the net since probably 2009 and I have no idea why it hasn't taken our gaming community by storm. Fabulous job to all those that participated in its development... Jeremy Olson and Migsula seem to be at the forefront of this. Apologize if I am not giving credit to other heavy hitters out there.
Now that the pleasantries have been addressed it's down to brass 'bolts'!
A few of the items the council have discussed:
- Using Necromunda as the baseline ruleset.
- Borrowing heavily from the great work Ancient Society's has done with 'Inquisimunda'.
- Random Encounter System to allow for allied missions against an enemy with dice rolled AI.
- Establishing a template battle report.
- Recording video logs (Campaign Updates? Battle reports? How-to vids?).
- Photoshop for effects.
- Building some truly ridiculous inspiring terrain.
- Keeping the whole story going on the blog... keeping you entertained.
***STAY TUNED***
