Just in case you want to try this out for yourself...

We used the Kill Team rules in the Battle Missions book but split the force into 100 point per player. The link above will give you the force allocation requirement and a basic understanding of how to mod 6th edition to play. However, note that we did keep overwatch from 6th addition, hence if someone was charged they were able to use snapshots.

Our Boarding Team:
5x Dark Angels  (4x Bolters & SGT w/ Plasma Pistol & Chain Sword)
3x Black Templars (c/c,  Flamer,  Plasma) and 3x Neophytes (c/c)
*3x Terminators would arrive in the end to save our collective a$$es.

Special traits we selected: Hammer of Wrath for his SGT & Feel No Pain for my "Flamer"... forgot the third cause the guy didn't live long enough to use it.

The mission was all about rescuing a data servitor from the bridge. He was represented by an appropriate model. Once in base-to-base contact he could move a maximum of 6" each round with a designated escort model. There was also a supply area set up on the board. If you were in base-to-base contact with the supply area you could re-roll all ones rolled (It wasn't used though).

For the Genestealer blips, I used the ones from my Space Hulk set which have between 1-3 annotated on the flip side. Anyways, the blips were able to move around the corridors via an AI which had to be rolled for each blip on the Genstealer turn. If a blip ever crossed through line of sight, it was revealed and that amount Genestealers would close range on the closest Space Marine as the turn permitted (you go /I go).  Also, a new blip would appear each round (on a 5+) from one of six spawning points spread through out the board. After the Data Servitor was recovered the 5+ requirement is not required... AMPN: this means a blip shows up every single round from a random spawning point.

Genstealer Blip AI
1. Doesn't move
2. Scatter D6"
3. Scatter 2D6"
4. Scatter 3D6"
5-6. Moves directly towards closest Space Marine at 2D6"
*Note: If a scatter direction points towards a wall, follow the wall in the approximate direction of the arrow... i.e. slide along the wall.

  1. Funny... I was thinking as I was reading about the acid blood that it was probably a flamer spray or something.

Nice pictures. It was a lot more brutal for the space marines than I thought it was going to be.

The lighting on picture 40 was good. Was that on purpose?

  2. Hahaha! No acid for blood in this one... It was deadly enough. Had an absolute blast though. I've got two more reports to post involving IG, Templars and some special characters (that are to become our warband leaders in future games). Nothing special with lighting really, have 4x extra lights pointed at the table though...
